From what i know, Monks are good farmer.

Those who do farming usualy do that alone, and because of that they keep all the items the mobs drop.

I have a W/M that can be built to be a farmer. It can farm Griffons/Tengu/Hydras and more.

The fact that monk is only secondary proffesion makes no difference with these mobs since It have Balthazar Aura (or spirit) or Bonetti's defence to regenerate energy, and some enchantments that give health for every successful strike at foe.

There is a combo of Monk/Mesmer that can farm Hydras very easy, although i never tried it.

For conclusion, W/M can farm pretty well, depend on the creatures you would like to farm

the reason they say monks are good for farming is because a monk can do it easier since they can heal themself well not because they get better drops or something like you seem to have mistaken

farming is exactly what it implies.. you buy seeds and go plant it.. j/k

Seriously tho, farming is where you repeatedly attack the same area/group/monsters over and over and over to get their drops, gold, xp. For example, if someone were to leave the Ice-Tooth Caves and aggro a whole bunch of minotaurs and kill them and then repeat that.. they would then be said to be farming the minotaurs..

Understand?

Farming is going out and killing specific creatures for drops.

Monks were the elite now take a lot of work to farm

Warriors are good

Ele???s can farm, they can kill some creatures that monks and wars can???t

Even talented Necros can do a bit of farming

Farmin means going out to a certain area and killing as many mobs as possible in as little time as possible and getting evrything they drop ( wich can be pretty good stuff some times ) the only condition is u have to do it alone, i.e. no henchies or anyone.

Farming is the process of repeatedly killing mobs (computer controlled creatures) in order to get their money and loot. That is what I understand it to be at least, but there may be some techinicality that I haven't picked up on as of yet.

The idea behind farming is to kill as many monsters that drop decent stuff as quickly as possible. In general there will be a specific mob that drops highly desireable equipment, and it will then be farmed in order to have the best chance of getting said equipment. So, when people say one profession is better at farming than another, all they are saying is they think that profession is more effective at cleaning out the baddies.

As mogothstark said, usually people want to farm alone so that they can keep all of the loot. At this point it becomes very important to have a character that can take on the mobs by himself. In general, monks (primary or secondary) can heal themselves and keep alive longer than other builds. Of course, each build can be played so many different ways, probably you could find a skill set that would allow you to solo fairly well.

While farming is not illegal, it appears to not be a desireable act by the makers of the game. Some of the updates appear to be directed at stopping the more successful farming builds, thus forcing players to find additional party members to help them. I am not sure about this, but I think I've heard mutterings. Someone else may want to comment.

You're not saying that mesmers can farm, is that because you don't know or is it because they just can't.

I'm a mesmer/necromancer now and i can kill some minotaurs and a lot of chars before going down myself. So it should be possible to go and farm, right?

All proffesions can farm. As was stated earlier its just a matter of matching your skillset to the monsters you are trying to kill. This can take a while because you will have to experiment, but when you hit the right set it pays off big time.

Elementalists are the best and quickest in my opinion. Here's how:

Attribute of Fire 15
Healing: 8
Equip:
Mending
Healing breeze
Inferno
Fireball
Meteorstorm
Firestorm
Flare

Normally, you can drop a group of warriors, with inferno then fireball 1shot each
Bowman: Fireball and 1 or 2 flares
Shaman and Mesmers 1 shot of Fireball

I can run through the fort Ranik mission in about 20-25 minutes, NOT using catapults at the end (iF you use catapult you will get no drops, If you fight, each one will drop something) Average about 15 charr hides a run

Monks make the easiest and best farmers still. And are very easy to group with while not farming :P

Is there an mesmer attack that can hit more then 1 foe at once?
I have watched the skills of mesmers but i can't find it!

I know this isn't the place to be asking this but the answer would really come in handy with my farming plans!

Chaos Storm and Shatter Hex come to mind right away. I've never farmed with my mesmers (prefer my warrior for farming), so I can't tell you if those skills will be any use to you... though Shatter Hex, at least, can do some hefty damage.

Default Farming

Speaking of Farming with a warrior....A guy took me in the ice caves past Dronars to farm 15 ice trolls ALL AT ONCE and his health never got past 3/4 full. I got his build but looking for different builds to farm different things....Any suggestions? And what type of farming is it good for?

ok, another quick question....do certain professions cause mobs to drop different items...i guess another way to ask my question is, will a warrior make a hydra drop something and a ranger makes it drop something totally different? or is it pretty much a crap shoot either way?
